OCEAN LITTER
With this litter our long awaited dream finally came true, the happiness these puppies brought into our lives knows no bounds, a litter that has learned us so much in the world of breeders, a litter with ups and downs and most of all with lots of love. Not only from the amazing Miwa who turned out to be a caring and playfull mom, also from an incredible bunch of puppy owners, who are in our hearts for always!
MIWA & KYRAN
All puppies have found perfect forever homes!
Miwa is a very sweet and easygoing girl who loves to spend time with her family. She has a nice working drive, a good focus and can be calm when needed. She is a healthy girl, has been tested for all current genetic and health tests and with her caring attitude we know she will be a great mom. She is an athlethic, very femine girl with moderate bone, a nice topline and a dense coat.
Kyran is a big boy with lots of working drive. We went to visit him and see him at work in an obedience class and were very impressed with his motivation and enthousiasm. He is a healthy boy, genetically tested and we believe he is complementing Miwa very well. Puppies from this combination will have a high energy level, we are looking forward to see them grow up.
LITTER THEME ‘OCEAN’
Water plays an important role in the life of our Tollers, so all puppies from this litter will have an ‘Ocean’ related name.

A short period before this actual breeding, a new genetic test was released for the disease known as ‘DE or Degenerative Encephaleopathy’. As Miwa was in heat, we had to take the decision to breed her or not, even if both parents were not tested. Immediately after the breeding, both parents were tested and came back as ‘Carriers’. We were devastated, there was no turning back as the puppies were due in 24 hours after we received the result from Miwa. All puppies were swabbed and by the age of 14 weeks (Courrier delivery went wrong the first time) we got the results back, 1 ‘clear’ puppy, 2 ‘carriers’ and 3 ‘affected/at risk’, we had been hoping for a different outcome but this was it and we could only inform, support, comfort, educate all and make sure our puppy buyers can count on us.
We are in contact with the University of Missouri, who developped the test, we will see what the future brings for these puppies.
We are very thankful for the unconditional love of our puppy buyers!
We are following Miwa’s progesteron level to see what would be the best day to visit Kyran. Between the 25th and the 27nd we had 2 succesful natural matings, so now fingers crossed.
On the 22nd of October it was finally time for the ultrasound, the vet saw a nice amount of puppies on the echo, we are expecting a normal size litter and are very happy with this news. Now the official countdown has started!

Week 9 | WE | ARE | READY! |
Week 9
Counting down these final days, Miwa is still going with us on the daily walks, her belly is now very present and she stays on the leash to prevent her from jumping over things. Her mammary glands make a funny sound when she walks, also she started producing colostrum. She is spending more and more time in the whelping box and started nesting. Taking her temperature now for almost a week, we are ready when she is!
Week 8
So proud of Miwa, she is doing great. We can feel the puppies now all the time, it looks like they are very active. Miwa is spending more and more time on her cleaning habits, also she’s guarding her food, sharing with Kitsu is no longer an option. She is eating 50% extra now these last 2 weeks.
Week 7
Miwa is 7 weeks far and finally she’s calming down, she enjoys her daily walks and the cuddly moments with Suki. She is sleeping a lot and her belly is growing fast now. We are feeding her now 4 times a day and placed the whelping box in our living room, so she can get used to it. This week we felt the puppies for the first time, it was magical!
Week 6
It is so strange that the first 4 weeks seem to last eternal and now we have seen the ultrasound, time is flying :-)! All shopping has been done, Marc has rebuild the kennel from our old camper to a comfortable whelping box, we are all looking forward to these little red wonders.
Week 5
Now we know for sure she’s pregnant, I really want her to calm down. She gained some weight, but her belly is not bothering her at all. She is eating 3 times a day now, together with Kitsu. When we take her and the other dogs out for a walk, she’s still on top and not slowing down at all.
Week 4
Finally it was time for the echo, 27 days after the first mating, we were so excited! Still not sure if she was pregnant, I went to the Clinic. It was an incredible feeling to hear that she’s expecting puppies, counting 5 on the screen, we received a movie and some pictures of the echo, where we can even see one of the little hearts beating!
Week 3
From this moment on, we might see small changes, it is very hard to find any. Miwa is not calmer than usual, she is still very playfull and is acting like a race horse whenever she can. She always loves food, but I have the feeling she’s more hungry than usual.
Week 2
2 weeks have passed now and no signs so far, to keep her busy we have replaced her agility trainings with long active walks in the forest, no complains from Miwa’s side. We have also adjusted her food portion with an extra 10%, so she’s no longer on her sport ration.
Week 1
Last weekend we visited Annemiek, it was time for Miwa to meet Kyran, the father of our planned litter. It was very nice to meet new people and to see old friends again. Miwa and Kyran had a succesfull mating, so fingers crossed!
Ocean Litter
Puppies arrived safe and sound!
On day 63 after the first breeding, Miwa gave birth to 6 beautiful puppies on a sunny and cold afternoon. Within 3 hours the 3 males and 3 females were born, all doing well and with lovely white markings. Little Mr. Blue struggled a bit after birth and needed some extra stimulation. Miwa is a very sweet mother and takes good care of her little wonders, she is a natural mom and her instinct kicked in the moment the first one arrived. We are looking forward to the next 8 weeks!

As a puppy Stella was a very human orientated girl, who loved cuddles and affection. She was a very sweet dog when growing up, loved deeply by her family and everybody who knew her was charmed by her personality. A few days after her 1st birthday, Stella got sick and after lots of tests by a specialist, the diagnosis Suspected Cardiomyopathy was given. Before the treatment could kick in, Stella passed away. Such heartbreaking news, wish there was something more we could have done. She will always be the brightest star in heaven! RIP ‘Stellebel’

As a puppy Olivia was a powerful puppy, who knew what she wanted, loved attention and was always ready for some action. She was a sweet but active dog when growing up, loved deeply by her family and everybody who knew her was in love with her beautiful markings. Unfortunately Olivia developed syptoms of DE and during her second year it became clearer and more disturbing than ever before. After a difficult moment, we took Olivia back in our home. Only a few days later, we needed to make the unfair and heartbreaking decision to let her go. Even at her birthplace she couldn’t settle and lived all day in stress and fear. Such a devastating goodbye, but we hope she can rest now and chase balls all day long . She will always be a fast girl!
RIP ‘Liv’ke’

When Luca was a 5 weeks old puppy he showed some difficulties in his mobility and with his learning curve. After we got the results of the DE test, we knew the typical symptoms he was showing are probably caused by DE. As Luca was going to be placed in a family with little children and the progress of the disease was unsure, we decided to keep Luca in our home, cherishing every moment together. For those who are interested and want to learn more about DE, we wrote down his progress on his own page.
